Reimaging Unstructured Storage Platform Upgrade Experience

UX Designer | 5 months Remote Internship | Enterprise product design

After all the foundational research and iterations of designs,

I targeted two main pain points and brought my prototypes into testings before handing off to the engineering team.

Painpoints

02 Poor troubleshooting process scared users from performing an upgrade

Bonus

I also designed an Optimal Version Check to give users an easy and informative way of checking which version is best based on their current version. This feature will hopefully encourage timely upgrades.

Beyond, I experimented the implementation of an “Easy Upgrade” which shortens the pathways to perform an upgrade.

Overall — Step by step Upgrade Workflow

The artifacts below show the step by step new workflow in order to improve the current upgrade experience. When connected to internet, users can easily download installation files, recommended firmware and patches. Users can also easily configure upgrade related settings such as status notification, active maintenance mode to mute unnecessary alerts for clients, etc.
